The awarding of these new projects will mean that by 2023 the three capitals will have the most cutting-edge chargers on the market, developed with 100% Basque technology.
From its facilities in Lasarte-Oria (Gipuzkoa), Jema designs and manufactures the equipment that will be installed in the depots of the three Basque capitals. The SIGMA and ECI series offer maximum versatility and interoperability for charging different brands of electric bus.
The Basque company has supplied more than 300 chargers, making it the leading national manufacturer of heavy vehicle charging systems in the electromobility market. The increase in demand for chargers has led to the recruitment of technicians specialised in electronics.
Vitoria-Gasteiz, European Green Capital in 2012 and Global Green City in 2019, continues working to stay at the top of these prestigious awards. Proof of this is its clear commitment to the development of a more sustainable and cleaner mobility with the extension of the first phase of the BEI (Intelligent Electric Bus), now, with the installation of 20 new charging points.
Bilbao acquires 8 new charging points for its city buses. The 8 modular units of the SIGMA range will be installed in the Bilbobus depots, making a total of 16 Jema units.
With the commitment acquired by the city in the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan, Bilbao is working on urban development through sustainable urban transport.
The major city of Gipuzkoa is making the automation of the charging process of the Dbus depots thanks to the acquisition of 22 ECI150 series chargers and 60 down-pantographs.
With the electrification of its fleet, San Sebastian aims to improve the city bus service and is working to reduce noise and pollutant emissions by improving air quality.
The city’s target for 2025 is to complete the process of transforming the fleet into a more environmentally friendly and sustainable one.
